From Breakout to Breakdown: The Day the Market Admitted the Breakout Did Not Hold

$BTC $ETH Tuesday is done, and with it the week's most important lesson: the breakout celebrated on Sunday did not survive 48 hours.

First: the facts — what happened today?

• Bitcoin: from an overnight high of $78,749 to trading around $76,900 — with Monday's close near $76,809, below $77,494

• Ethereum: back below $2,300 to around $2,255, after an overnight high of $2,314

• Funds: $643.3M left Bitcoin ETFs on Friday — the biggest single-day exit since 25 June, erasing 63.6% of 2026 inflows

• Liquidations: $298M in 12 hours, $271M of it longs — forced selling of buyers, not fresh institutional selling

• Australia: hiked rates to 4.85% before dawn — and markets took it calmly

Second: scoring the morning — right yesterday / wrong yesterday

• Wrong: the breakout thesis was invalidated by a daily close below $77,494 — and that admission is owed, not dressed up

• Right: $78,260 was a real ceiling, and the market was rejected there before falling

• Right: ISM came in at 55.5, above expectations — but a strong economy did not save a scared market

Third: the analysis — tonight's and tomorrow's levels

• Bitcoin: a close above $77,494 revives the recovery case toward $78,260, then $80,000; holding below $76,588 opens $76,155, then $75,000

• Ethereum: above $2,300 means consolidation held; below $2,245 means a return toward $2,200

• The overall invalidation level: a Bitcoin close above $77,494 is what turns a "breakdown" into a "bear trap" — so far, that has not happened

Fourth: what decides tomorrow?

• Tonight and Wednesday dawn: full US election results and Asia's reaction

• Wednesday: eurozone flash inflation, ISM services and ADP private payrolls

• Thursday: the Bank of England — and Friday 16:30 Amman: the jobs report, the week's final verdict

What does all this mean?

Tuesday was a "narrative correction" day, not a crash day — the market did not collapse, it admitted the rally was lighter than believed: institutions sold, leveraged retail rushed in, and liquidations cleaned up the excess. Between now and Friday, price moves on closes and results — not on wishes.

Tonight's question: after a day like this, has your confidence in the market grown or shrunk? Leave your take in a comment.
