đŠ Tether Is Sitting on 150,000 Bitcoin. That's Quite a Treasury! Tether has shared some impressive numbers, and its Bitcoin holdings are probably my favorite part. The company now holds approximately 150,000 $BTC , worth over $11.5 billion. ( The Cryptonomist ) But Bitcoin is only one piece of the picture. A few more numbers from Tether's Q3 results: đ $1.5B in quarterly operating profit đ” $132.4B in US Treasury exposure đ $7.95B in excess reserves So, what's Tether doing with all that money? Its stablecoin business generates income from reserve assets, including US Treasuries. Part of its profits then goes into investments like Bitcoin. Not a bad way to build a crypto portfolio đ Personally, I think the business model is worth watching. Tether makes money from traditional finance while gradually building exposure to digital assets. But holding more Bitcoin also means taking on more price risk. And there's an important distinction: Tether's corporate investments and the reserves backing USDT aren't necessarily the same pool of assets. Would you rather see Tether keep accumulating Bitcoin or focus on traditional reserves? Numbers are interesting. Risks still matter.
