$1.53 billion wiped out in 24 hours. And Bitcoin is still standing above $77,000. That is the real story today.

The Binance security news triggered a classic leverage flush. According to CoinGlass figures reported by CoinDesk on 30 October, about $1.29 billion of that total was longs getting forced out, with Bitcoin alone accounting for about $499 million and Ether about $358 million. Bitcoin fell to about $76,460, then bounced back toward $77,918, which is where CoinGecko puts it now, down 2.39 percent in 24 hours. The Fear and Greed Index has dropped to 30, fear territory, from 51 the day before.

My reading is this. A flush like this clears weak hands, but a bounce after a flush is not automatically a bottom. The level I am watching is $76,500, the short term holder cost basis flagged in the KuCoin daily report. Hold above it and a retest of $80,000 stays on the table. Lose it and $74,900 is the next real support. I would not chase this bounce with size, and I would not short into panic either. Wait for the level to decide.
