🚹 $11 Billion Bitcoin Options Expiry Is Here! What's Next for BTC? 🚹
Tomorrow, Friday (October 30), a massive $11 billion worth of Bitcoin options contracts are set to expire on Deribit. This accounts for roughly one-third of all open interest, making it a critical event for short-term market volatility.
Currently, Bitcoin has been facing minor pressure, hovering just around the critical $80,000 zone. Derivatives data reveals a heavy concentration of open interest on the buyer's side (calls outnumbering puts), with significant clusters sitting at strike prices of $90K, $95K, and $100K.
If the spot price remains around its current level, these optimistic out-of-the-money call options are highly likely to expire worthless. However, the real excitement lies in the hedging activity of institutional dealers defending contracts closer to the current market price. With the US midterm elections just around the corner next month, this expiry might trigger the exact liquidity injection needed for a sharp price swing.
