🚹 Big Crypto News Roundup – Oct 19-20, 2026
1. JPMorgan brings JPM Coin to Ethereum
JPMorgan (via Kinexys) has expanded its USD deposit token JPM Coin (JPMD) to the Ethereum mainnet for institutional clients.
Previously live on Base (since Nov 2025), JPMD now supports peer-to-peer transfers across the EVM ecosystem (Ethereum + Base). It represents actual JPMorgan bank deposits and enables 24/7 on-chain payments and settlement in seconds — a major upgrade over traditional banking hours.
The bank cited Ethereum’s deep liquidity and existing tokenized assets (including JPM’s own money-market funds) as key reasons. Aimed at crypto firms needing on-chain payments and institutions settling tokenized trades or posting collateral. Kinexys platform has already processed >$4T cumulative volume.
Institutional-only for now, but a clear signal that TradFi is moving more real bank deposits onto public chains.
2. Strategy (MicroStrategy) approaches a golden cross
Technical setup on Strategy stock is nearing a golden cross that could signal a potential shift in momentum. Worth watching for BTC-related equity plays.
3. White House crypto adviser Patrick Witt departs
Patrick Witt, Executive Director of the President’s Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, has left as his detail expired. He was a key figure pushing the Clarity Act (market structure bill). This is the third senior crypto policy exit from the White House this year. No successor announced yet.
