Smart contracts are programs, not promises
A smart contract is a program deployed to a blockchain. On TRON, contract code runs in the TRON Virtual Machine (TVM), and network nodes execute it according to the protocol’s rules.
Contracts can automate actions such as token transfers, swaps, lending logic, or governance functions. Once deployed, the code is generally fixed unless the system was deliberately designed with an upgrade mechanism or other administrative controls.
That distinction matters: “runs automatically” does not mean “cannot fail.” A bug, flawed economic assumptions, a compromised administrator key, or a risky external integration can still create problems. Even an audit is evidence of review not a guarantee of safety.
Before interacting with a contract, verify the official contract address, read the project’s documentation, check what permissions you are granting, and look for independent security information where available. The code and its control structure matter more than a polished front end.
