Hacken warned that audit badges can give investors false confidence as hackers stole $1.18 billion across 107 incidents in the third quarter. Hacken's report put losses 55% above the previous quarter. Hacken attributed $906.8 million to compromised suppliers or developer tools, uninstalled publicly available security fixes, or components excluded from the latest security review. Hacken said audits may cover only specific smart contracts, leaving wallets, signing systems and third-party software outside the review. Hacken said companies holding customer funds must track vulnerabilities and install fixes promptly rather than rely on old audits.
