đ What are Support & Resistance?
Support is a price area where buyers have stepped in before and stopped a fall. Resistance is an area where sellers have stepped in before and stopped a rise. They are the base of almost every chart: patterns, stop-losses and targets all start from these levels.
They work because traders remember prices. People who missed a buy at a low wait to buy there again, and people stuck at a high wait to sell at break-even. Right now $BTC is trading inside a clear box of both.

đ How to draw them
âą Start on a higher timeframe (1D or 4H). Levels there matter more than on a 5-minute chart
âą Mark the clear swing highs and swing lows: the turning points where price reversed fast
âą Look for prices that were touched 2-3 times or more. One touch is a guess, three is a level
âą Draw a zone, not a thin line. Wicks poke through; use the wick tips and the candle bodies as the edges
âą Keep only the 2-3 nearest levels above and below price. Too many lines = no signal
âą Round numbers ($80,000, $100) often act as levels too, because many orders sit there
đ Role reversal (the flip)
âą When resistance breaks with a strong close, it often turns into support on the retest
âą When support breaks, it often turns into resistance
âą This is one of the most useful ideas in price action, and BTC shows it right now (see below)
đ How traders use it
âą Range trade: buy near support, sell near resistance, while the range holds
âą Breakout trade: wait for a daily close beyond the level, then enter on the retest
âą Stop-loss: just outside the zone (below support for longs, above resistance for shorts), not inside it
âą Target: the next level on the other side
âą Strength check: more touches, higher volume at the level and a higher timeframe = stronger level
đ§Ș Live example: $BTC 1D
âą Price: about $82,000, 1D RSI 48 (neutral)
âą Support $79.8K-80.4K: tested 3 times. Sep 20 low $80,126, Oct 8 low $80,393, Oct 15 wick $79,800 bought back to a $82,245 close
âą That zone is a flip: from Aug 21 to Sep 17, BTC made only one daily close above $80.4K. Since the Sep 18 breakout, every daily close has stayed above it
âą The 1D 50 EMA (~$80,440) sits inside the same zone, which adds weight to it
âą Resistance $84.1K-84.4K: four daily tops in a row, Oct 11 $84,199, Oct 12 $84,352, Oct 13 $84,168, Oct 14 $84,146
âą Major resistance $87.2K-87.4K: the Sep 21 top $87,395 and the Oct 2 top $87,220
âą What to watch: a daily close above $84.4K opens $87.2K. A daily close under $79.8K would break the flip zone and turn it into resistance
â ïž Common mistakes
âą Drawing a line on every small wiggle until the chart is full of lines
âą Treating a level as an exact price. It is a zone, and stops placed exactly on it get hunted
âą Buying the first poke above resistance without a close. Many breakouts fail on low volume
âą Forgetting that each test weakens a level: buyers or sellers at that price get used up
â Quick checklist
âą Start on 1D, then refine on 4H
âą Mark only levels with 2-3+ clean touches
âą Draw zones, not lines
âą Wait for a close and a retest before acting on a break
âą Set the stop outside the zone and risk only 1-2% of your account
