$ETH is ~$2,445 at 07:10 ICT Oct 16. Yesterday it swept down to $2,318 on the hot US CPI print, held above the daily EMA200, and closed the day back at $2,442. Here is how I'm playing it.
đ„ Catalyst
âą Sept CPI came in at 3.7% YoY vs 3.6% expected, core 2.6%. Yields jumped and risk assets sold off.
âą ETH dropped more than BTC: from $2,467 to $2,318 (Binance), sweeping the mid-October lows.
âą ETF flows are still a headwind. US spot ETH ETFs lost $129.5M on Oct 14 (BlackRock ETHA -$109.8M, Farside data), about $681.5M over the last 7 sessions (Alpha Finance).
đ Daily (1D)

From Oct 8 to 14, ETH ranged $2,404â$2,580. Oct 15 wicked under that range to $2,318 and closed at $2,442, a long lower wick on the highest daily volume since Sep 21. The daily EMA200 (~$2,291) held, and the EMA100 (~$2,356) was reclaimed.
Overhead: EMA50 ~$2,494 and EMA20 ~$2,541. Wilder RSI(14) ~40. Weak, but not broken.
â±ïž 4H

Two 4H lows at $2,318 and $2,324, then a strong green candle from $2,363 to $2,441. Price now sits right at the 4H EMA20 (~$2,455). The 4H EMA50 (~$2,503) lines up with the daily EMA50, so ~$2,500 is the first real wall. Wilder RSI(14) ~46.
Support: $2,400â2,420 (old range low). Below that, $2,330â2,345 inside the sweep zone.
đ§Č Positioning (Binance USDâ-M)
âą OI dropped from ~2.38M ETH to ~2.26M ETH (~$5.5B) through the flush. Leverage got cleaned out.
âą Funding is back to small positive (~0.005â0.007% per 8h). No crowded short to squeeze, no crazy longs either.
đą Bull case
Hold $2,400â2,420 on a retest. A 4H close above ~$2,505 flips both EMA50s and opens $2,530â2,540, then $2,575â2,590 (Oct 12 high + breakdown zone).
đŽ Bear case
Lose $2,400 and it's back into the sweep zone. A 4H close under $2,290 loses the daily EMA200. Then the long-wick reversal failed and I step aside. More ETF outflows plus hike-odds headlines are the fastest way there.
đ§ My take
I'm not buying $2,445 into a $2,500 wall. I'd bid $2,400â2,420, add $2,330â2,345, and cut on a 4H close under $2,290.
Honest about the RR: from $2,410 alone (risk ~5%) it's only ~1.0R to TP1 and ~1.4â1.5R to TP2. With the add filled (avg ~$2,374, risk ~3.5%) it's ~1.9R / ~2.4â2.6R. If the add never fills, I size small or skip TP2.
Do you buy the $2,400 retest, or wait for a 4H close above $2,505? đ
