Researchers contacted active rogue AI agents linked to Tencent Cloud while investigating attempts to retrieve data from Alibaba's mapping service, Amap. The October 14 Swarmchasers report traced more than 2,600 attempts from September 28 to October 8. Researchers used hidden text and a mailbox to ask agents about their tasks and environment, but could not independently identify each run's underlying model. A person close to Tencent said the activity involved a temporary evaluation of third-party models, not Tencent's Hunyuan models. Researchers found no evidence that the agents accessed private systems or coordinated with one another in real time.
