@crossriverbank is adding RLUSD, @Ripple's stablecoin, to its core banking platform, with payments running on the XRP Ledger. Fintechs that use the bank can move between dollars and RLUSD and settle around the clock through one connection.

Card issuers and payment processors also get a new way to settle during the day, cutting payment wait times. $RLUSD now carries a market cap of slightly over $2.4B.

What the Cross River integration covers

Cross River Bank, based in Fort Lee, is integrating Ripple's U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin into its proprietary Core Operating System. The bank said the setup creates a path for fintechs and other business customers to move between U.S. dollars and RLUSD through a single banking platform and API connection.

The stablecoin will sit alongside existing rails. Cross River said the connection would combine RLUSD transfers with ACH, wire transfers and real-time payments through one application programming interface. Customers will not need to deploy their own blockchain infrastructure to use the new route.

For payment networks, Cross River said the move is designed to help issuers and acquirers settle intraday, reduce settlement latency and access blockchain-based payments through a regulated banking platform. "Our partnership with Ripple eliminates that complexity and makes payments simpler," said Adam Goller, head of fintech banking at Cross River.

There are limits for now. Cross River Bank has confirmed that the services are currently available only in limited U.S. states.

RLUSD supply and the bank push

RLUSD is a U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, a qualified custodian and subsidiary of Ripple Labs. It launched in December 2024, is backed 1:1 by cash and short-term U.S. Treasuries, and runs on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum.

Market cap figures vary by data provider and date. RWA.xyz listed RLUSD's market cap at $2.34B as of October 15, 2026. Kraken's data showed $2.42B at an earlier reading. Either way, the token is far smaller than the sector leaders. When RLUSD passed $1 billion in November 2025, CoinDesk noted its market cap remained small next to Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC.

The deal gives Ripple a regulated U.S. banking channel for RLUSD. RippleX SVP Markus Infanger said stablecoins will reshape payments by becoming part of banks' existing infrastructure rather than operating as a separate system.
