đ Bitcoin Near $80K: #Inflation Is Only Half the Problem
Bitcoin dropped to $80,167 this morning, extending the sell-off that started before yesterday's US inflation report.
September #CPI came in at 3.7% versus 3.6% expected. Another Fed rate hike is back on the table.
Higher rates mean more expensive capital, attractive Treasury yields and less appetite for leveraged risk.
But here's where things get interesting.
The dollar weakened. Treasury yields pulled back. Bitcoin kept falling.
That tells us the correction isn't just about CPI. Buyers are still missing, and rebounds aren't attracting enough demand.
đ Three $BTC scenarios
đą Recovery: $80K holds, #BTC reclaims $81,500â82,000. The next test is $83Kâ84K. Spot buying needs to confirm the move.
đŽ Further decline: $80K breaks and the retest fails. Former support becomes resistance, opening the door to another leg down.
âȘ Consolidation: BTC stops making lower lows, volume and Open Interest cool down, but buyers still can't reclaim lost levels.
What about altcoins?
Falling price + falling OI suggests positions are being closed. Liquidations may create conditions for a technical bounce.
Falling price + rising OI means new positioning is entering the market. Check funding, volume and liquidation data before assuming shorts are taking over.
I'm also watching Market Median. Readings near â10% have historically been useful for identifying local long opportunities. Deeper oversold conditions can support gradual accumulation, but they don't guarantee a bottom.
Next catalysts: US #PPI and other economic data today, followed by the Fed decision on October 28.
A weaker #dollar alone won't save this market. Bitcoin needs actual buyers, and altcoins need broader participation.
$80K is the immediate test. $82K is the first meaningful recovery hurdle.
