On-Chain HODL Waves Are Flashing a Familiar Signal

One of the most reliable on-chain signals in crypto isn't a price indicator — it's the HODL wave: the distribution of $BTC supply by last-moved age.

Here's what the data consistently shows across cycles:

→ During bear markets and accumulation phases, the share of supply unmoved for 1–3+ years quietly expands. Long-term holders absorb sell pressure and refuse to distribute.

→ As price climbs into a bull run, young supply (coins moved <90 days) begins growing its share. That's distribution — not demand destruction.

→ When >30% of supply is younger than 6 months, the market is typically in late-stage euphoria.

The implication for $ETH and $SOL is similar: watch the long-term holder cohort. If LTH supply is still growing while price rises, the move is likely structural. If LTH supply peaks and starts declining into price strength, that's the historically consistent exit window.

On-chain behavior doesn't predict exact tops. But it tells you who is in control of supply — and that's the most honest market signal we have.

Trust the data over the narrative.
