đ What is Fibonacci retracement?
Fibonacci retracement is a set of horizontal lines drawn between a swing low and a swing high. The lines sit at 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8% and 78.6% of that move.
After a strong move, price rarely goes up in a straight line. It pulls back first. Fib levels give you a map of where that pullback may slow down and where buyers may step in again.
Fibonacci extensions (127.2% and 161.8%) do the opposite job. They show where a move may go AFTER price breaks the old high. $BTC is a clean live example right now.

đ How to draw it
âą Find one clear swing: a low and a high that everyone can see
âą Uptrend: drag the tool from the swing low up to the swing high
âą Downtrend: drag from the swing high down to the swing low
âą Use candle wicks or bodies, but stay consistent
âą Use the daily or 4H chart for the main levels. Small timeframes give noisy swings
đ What each level means
âą 0.236: a shallow pullback. Shows a very strong trend
âą 0.382: a normal pullback in a healthy trend
âą 0.5: not a true Fibonacci ratio, but traders watch it closely
âą 0.618: the most watched level. 0.5 to 0.618 is the key buy zone
âą 0.786: a deep pullback. If it breaks, the whole move is in doubt
đ How traders use it
âą Entry: wait for price to reach 0.382, 0.5 or 0.618, then look for a bullish candle (hammer, engulfing) before buying. Never buy just because a line is touched
âą Stop-loss: just below the next Fib level, or below the swing low for a safer stop
âą Target: first the old swing high, then the 1.272 and 1.618 extensions
âą Best signal: a Fib level that lines up with old support, an EMA or high volume. This is called confluence
đ§Ș Live example: $BTC daily
âą The September rally ran from the $74,968 low (Sep 15) to the $87,396 high (Sep 21). That is the swing we measure
⹠Fib levels: 0.236 = $84,463 · 0.382 = $82,648 · 0.5 = $81,182 · 0.618 = $79,715 · 0.786 = $77,627
âą Oct 8: BTC fell to $80,394, between the 0.5 and 0.618 levels, then bounced. A textbook key-zone reaction
âą Oct 12: the bounce topped at $84,352, just under the 0.236 level at $84,463, and was rejected
âą Today (Oct 13): BTC dipped to $81,034, right at the 0.5 level, and buyers pushed it back to about $83,100
âą BTC now sits above the 0.382 level, near the 20-day EMA ($83,150). The 50-day EMA (~$80,240) sits inside the key zone, adding confluence. Daily RSI is 51.7, neutral
âą What to watch: a daily close over $84,463 opens the old high at $87,396. Above that, the 1.272 extension is $90,776 and 1.618 is $95,076. A daily close under $79,715 (0.618) would put the September rally in doubt, with $77,627 next
â ïž Common mistakes
âą Drawing Fib on a small, random swing that nobody else watches
âą Moving the swing points until the lines "fit" the chart
âą Buying the touch of a level without a confirming candle
âą Treating Fib lines as exact prices. They are zones, give them some room
â Quick checklist
âą Is the swing low and high clear on the daily or 4H chart?
âą Is price pulling back into 0.382, 0.5 or 0.618?
âą Does the level line up with support, an EMA or volume?
âą Is there a bullish candle to confirm the bounce?
âą Is your stop below the next level and your risk 1-2% of your account?
