ZachXBT says he went undercover to infiltrate a Chinese crime network that allegedly laundered more than $1 billion for North Korea’s Lazarus Group. He posed as a customer and personally put up $349,700 in $USDC , accepting a 5% loss on transactions to build trust with one of the operators. The operation helped him identify more than $12 million in funds linked to the $1.5 billion Bybit hack, with Tether later freezing around $442,000 in USDT connected to the wallets. What’s crazy is how deep the operation appears to have gone. ZachXBT says the same network was involved in laundering funds from multiple major crypto exploits. This is another pretty good example of why on-chain investigation can be so powerful. The blockchain may be pseudonymous, but the money leaves a trail.
