🚹 850,000+ $ETH IS NOW WAITING TO EXIT STAKING

Ethereum is facing an unusual staking development this week.

The validator exit queue reportedly surged by around 392%, reaching approximately 850,736 $ETH at its peak.

A major factor is MetaMask Staking.

On September 30, MetaMask disclosed a security incident affecting part of its infrastructure. The company said it found no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets and began proactively exiting affected validators from its non-custodial staking operations.

Around 17,000 validators holding roughly 523,000 $ETH were involved in the precautionary exits, according to Binance News.

But here's the important part:

An ETH staking exit is not the same as an immediate market sale.

Ethereum's protocol controls the exit process through a queue, meaning validators cannot all leave simultaneously. Ethereum's own documentation explains that exit times vary depending on how many validators are exiting at the same time.

So the real story isn't “850K $ETH is being dumped.”

The real story is how Ethereum's validator system handles a sudden wave of exits — and whether the queue normalizes once the MetaMask-related exits are completed.
