BlockBeats news, October 2: After a crypto industry organization filed a lawsuit, Illinois officials agreed to delay the implementation of the digital asset tax by 6 months, from the originally scheduled January 1, 2027, to July 1.The tax rate is 0.2% of the value of digital asset-related transactions. Previously, the Digital Chamber sued relevant Illinois officials, arguing that the tax provision was included in the state budget without sufficient debate and public feedback. The two sides have now agreed to the delay to give the court time to hear the legal dispute, but this delay does not mean the tax has been repealed.
