MetaMask confirmed on September 30, 2026 that part of its infrastructure had a security incident. It says there is no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets. �

As a precaution, MetaMask started exiting affected Ethereum validators from its non-custodial staking operations. MetaMask says it does not control clients’ withdrawal keys. �

On-chain analysis reported that about 0.36 ETH in validator rewards/tips were diverted, while the underlying staked ETH could not be moved by the attacker. �
