Will the next crypto move bring a sustained rally or another pullback? As October begins, Bitcoin ETF flows, Ethereum’s relative strength and the wider economic outlook are key signals to watch.

Today’s headline offers a reason for optimism, but it deserves context.

Citigroup has raised its 12-month Bitcoin price forecast to $113,000 and its Ethereum forecast to $3,028, citing stronger crypto activity, renewed ETF inflows and supportive economic conditions. These are institutional forecasts, not guaranteed outcomes or October price targets. (reuters.com)

Bitcoin: Will demand keep building?

The next question is whether investment flows remain consistent. CoinDesk reports that U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs moved from substantial outflows earlier this year to approximately $800 million in net inflows for 2026 by late September. That recovery makes the next flow updates worth watching. (coindesk.com)

My interpretation: continued inflows would strengthen the case for a sustained recovery. Renewed withdrawals would challenge it. One positive session alone cannot establish a lasting trend.

Ethereum: Watch strength against Bitcoin

A rising ETH price tells only part of the story. I’m also watching ETH/BTC, which shows whether Ethereum is outperforming Bitcoin.

Sustained relative strength, alongside broader buying interest, would make an Ethereum-led expansion more convincing. A dollar-price rally without relative strength would offer weaker evidence.

Altcoins: What would support an altseason?

My checklist includes broader participation across multiple sectors, sustained trading volume and more assets outperforming Bitcoin.

These are signals to assess, not proof that an altseason has started. A few rapidly rising tokens do not establish a market-wide trend.

Three scenarios for the weeks ahead

• Bullish: Investment inflows continue, demand strengthens and market participation broadens.

• Sideways: Positive headlines attract buyers, but follow-through remains limited.

• Bearish: Flows reverse or economic conditions weaken, putting the recovery under pressure.

My focus is on whether fresh demand confirms the headlines. A price forecast can attract attention, but the market still has to deliver.
