Ronald Spektor was sentenced to up to 12 years after pleading guilty over his role in stealing $16 million in cryptocurrency from Coinbase users. The 23-year-old Brooklyn resident posed as a Coinbase representative and tricked victims into moving funds to a wallet he controlled, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office. Prosecutors had sought seven to 21 years. Spektor must forfeit more than $500,000 in assets and pay nearly $16 million in restitution.
