What happened?

Bitcoin started the day around $87,000 then broke down through $86k and $85k levels around midnight, with almost no recovery on the chart. Ethereum mirrored the move, down 2.81% to around $2,683, BNB -2.69%, XRP -5.40%, Solana -3.06%.

Two drivers are being cited:

1. *Macro pressure:* 10-year US Treasury yield spiked to 5.06% — highest in nearly 20 years — pulling risk assets down. German, Spanish and Italian yields also jumped.
2. *Liquidations:* The sharp $87k -> $84k drop liquidated $280M in 4 hours alone, accelerating the downside.

Yesterday the picture was different — Bitcoin was consolidating near $86,379 after an explosive Monday breakout, with broader market in greed territory (Fear & Greed Index at 71).

Technical Levels to Watch

- *Bitcoin:* Analysts flag $82,000 as the must-hold support. If BTC holds above it, bulls can avoid falling back into the $60k-$80k range. Previous cycle ATH was $126,208 on Oct 6, 2025 — BTC is now -33% below that.
- *Ethereum:* Trading right below the critical $2,800 resistance that has flipped between support/resistance since 2024. A break above $2,800 could target $3,000, but rejection risks a long liquidation cascade toward $2,546.

*Context:* Over 5 days BTC is still up 4.28% and ETH up 2.39% — this looks like a short-term correction within a broader uptrend that saw Bitcoin officially re-enter bull market structure above $82,814 earlier this week.
