For the past two years, I have closely watched Gold and Bitcoin move through the London, New York and Asian sessions.
One pattern has become increasingly difficult to ignore:
When London and New York push the market aggressively in one direction, Asia often comes in to restore the balance.
And this works both ways.
It can be a massive selloff followed by an Asian recovery.
Or a powerful buyoff followed by an Asian decline.
The direction of the initial move is not the important part.
What matters is the excessive displacement created during the high-liquidity London and New York sessions.
GOLD
Gold is particularly revealing.
London and New York can produce explosive moves as traders react to US economic data, Federal Reserve expectations, Treasury yields, geopolitical developments and the dollar.
A strong catalyst can send XAUUSD sharply higher or lower within hours.
But after that move becomes extended, the Asian session frequently becomes the period where price begins to retrace the excess.
A New York selloff can become an Asian recovery.
A New York rally can become an Asian pullback.
Asia doesn't necessarily follow the emotional move. It often challenges it.
Bitcoin shows a similar behaviour.
Although BTC trades 24/7, the concentration of liquidity and institutional participation still changes dramatically throughout the global sessions.
London and New York can create aggressive directional moves, leaving Bitcoin heavily extended.
Then Asia arrives.
Instead of blindly continuing the previous move, BTC can begin retracing it — sometimes recovering a large portion of the London/New York move.
This is why I have stopped looking at the Asian session simply as a “quiet session.”
TWO YEARS OF OBSERVATION
After two years of watching these markets, my conclusion is simple:
Don't automatically assume that a massive London or New York move means continuation.
Sometimes the biggest move of the day creates the conditions for the next reversal.
The market can buy aggressively and then reverse.
It can sell aggressively and then recover.
The Asian session often becomes the place where that imbalance is challenged.
Of course, this is not a guaranteed trading signal. Major fundamental events can override any session pattern, and Asia can absolutely continue the existing trend.
But when Gold or BTC has made an unusually aggressive move during London or New York, I pay very close attention to what happens when Asia takes over.
Because sometimes…
London creates the move.
New York exaggerates it.
And Asia restores the balance.
