⚛️ BITCOIN’S FIRST QUANTUM-SAFE TRANSACTION HITS MAINNET
Bitcoin has taken an important step toward long-term quantum security.
StarkWare says a transaction using its Quantum-Safe Bitcoin (QSB) method was successfully mined on Bitcoin mainnet on August 26, demonstrating that a quantum-resistant spending method can work under Bitcoin’s existing consensus rules — with no soft fork or hard fork required.
🔐 WHY IT MATTERS
QSB uses hash-based protection designed to make specific Bitcoin outputs more resistant to future attacks from powerful quantum computers.
The transaction was confirmed in Bitcoin block 964,199 and involved a small experimental amount.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: BITCOIN IS NOT “FULLY QUANTUM-PROOF”
This was a technical demonstration, not a network-wide upgrade.
