I noticed something recently while reading about Dusk Pay. The EU's Transfer of Funds Regulation now carries zero-threshold Travel Rule requirements — every crypto transfer, regardless of size, must include sender and recipient data. Dusk's payment infrastructure sits in an interesting place relative to that.
What seems interesting is the gap between proving something and sharing it at the point of transfer. Dusk lets receivers cryptographically demonstrate who paid them. I'm not completely sure that satisfies proactive VASP-to-VASP disclosure, where the data must travel with the payment — not be retrieved afterward.
The question that comes to mind is whether selective disclosure on request and mandatory pre-transfer data sharing are actually the same obligation. Looking from the outside, they sound similar but could carry entirely different legal weight — and I sometimes wonder if that gap is fully accounted for.
It makes me think the real test for Dusk Pay isn't the technology — it's whether regulators accept receiver-side attestation as equivalent to proactive sender disclosure. That's a legal question, not a design one, and its answer remains genuinely open — anyway, time will tell👍
