According to the latest on-chain tracking, the Coldcard vulnerability attacker has sent 64 BTC and 200 ETH to Wasabi and Tornado Cash, respectively. Coldcard previously revealed a firmware random-number flaw, which led to the theft of a large amount of assets from older wallets; the attacker is now already beginning to process the proceeds.
Mixing tools will split the funds, mix them, and then route them to multiple new addresses—making subsequent tracing and freezing significantly more difficult. Once multiple rounds of mixing are completed, the likelihood that victims can recover their assets will continue to decline.
