Most PoS blockchains secure themselves with their own validator sets, making security difficult to extend beyond a single ecosystem.

Babylon explores one possible solution by enabling self-custodial BTC staking directly on the Bitcoin network while using Bitcoin timestamps to coordinate with PoS chains. I think of it like using the same trusted clock across different offices instead of letting each one keep its own time. The offices remain independent, but everyone can verify when something happened using a common reference.

Whether this model proves effective will depend on how validators behave, how the system performs in practice, and whether developers actually adopt it. Could shared Bitcoin timestamps become a practical coordination layer for future blockchain networks?
