đ„ Zcash Speeds Up Today. Why Is Monero Loaded With Leverage? $ZEC gets a new engine today, while $XMR gets a crowd of leveraged traders. Zcashâs NU7 upgrade is due to activate around November 5, at mainnet block 3,543,405. Blocks drop from 75 seconds to 25, and each one pays a third of what it did, so daily issuance stays the same. $ZEC traded near $1,310 on Wednesday, up about 9% in 24 hours, per CoinGecko. Thereâs a catch. On the testnet, blocks averaged roughly 18 seconds against the 25 planned, and the chain reorganized 17 times in a day, according to one analyst. Mainnet doesnât have to repeat that. Today we find out. Monero has no upgrade date. It has positioning. Futures open interest hit a record $377 million on October 30, per Coinglass, nearly double its mid-October level, while $XMR stayed boxed between about $572 and $625. Why the pile-in? Probably bets on a break of that $625 ceiling, though open interest canât show which side placed them. The last open-interest peak, in January, was followed by a roughly 66% drop in about 20 days.
