Why Bitcoin and Alts Are Dumping Right Now???
Roughly $100–120 billion has been wiped from the crypto market in the latest move, with Bitcoin sliding below $81,000 after failing to hold higher levels.
Here’s the main drivers:
The US is reportedly preparing possible renewed strikes on Iran after the midterm elections (about two weeks away). Any escalation could spike oil prices, reignite inflation fears, and increase the odds of a more hawkish Fed response. The next FOMC meeting is also just around the corner.
When major geopolitical and policy events stack up like this, investors typically reduce risk across the board. Crypto, being one of the higher-beta assets, gets hit hard.
At the same time, AI and tech stocks are under pressure as markets worry about debt levels, valuations, and the pace of AI spending. Because crypto often trades in tandem with tech and risk appetite more broadly, that weakness is spilling over into Bitcoin and the rest of the market.

This drop is being driven by macro uncertainty and risk-off positioning — not by a sudden collapse in crypto’s underlying fundamentals.
During the 2023–2025 run, the market faced rate hikes, banking stress, Japan’s volatility, and tariff fears. Bitcoin still climbed significantly and many alts delivered large multiples. Macro headwinds can create sharp drawdowns without permanently changing the longer-term trajectory.

These periods of uncertainty often create the best risk-reward setups for those with a longer time horizon. The key is managing size and not over-leveraging into the volatility.
Not financial advice. Crypto is highly volatile and you can lose money. Always do your own research.
