🚨 Zcash is targeting 25-second blocks in November. But this isn't simply a threefold increase in everything the network can do.

The NU7 upgrade is targeted for November 5, around block height 3,543,405.

Its key change is reducing block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds.

Why does that matter?

Users and services that need one or two confirmations could experience lower waiting times. The proposed changes also introduce shielded-pool action limits designed to improve scalability and reduce certain denial-of-service risks.

ZIP-218 projects Orchard shielded-transaction throughput rising from 2.9 to 6.6 transactions per second under its specified conditions.

But shorter block intervals don't guarantee every transaction will be three times faster in real-world use.

The final deployment specification also matters because several candidate changes are still listed for consideration.

I'd watch the finalized upgrade contents, node readiness and actual confirmation performance after activation.

Can faster confirmations improve Zcash's usability without compromising the protections its shielded design is intended to provide?

Not financial advice.
