🚹 $IOST RIPPED +43% IN 24 HOURS, AND SHORTS ARE PAYING FOR IT đŸ©ž

$IOST is the loudest name on Binance spot right now: +43.1% in 24h to $0.001065, with $6.8M in spot volume. But the real tell is not on the chart, it is in the funding rates.

On OKX, IOST perps are printing -43% annualized funding. In plain terms: shorts are stacked so deep they are paying longs roughly 0.12% a day just to stay in the trade. And this is not isolated, Hyperliquid shows the same crowded-short pressure across small caps (SAND -143% APR, BOME -109% APR).

📊 THE SQUEEZE EQUATION
(+43% pump in 24h) + (shorts paying -43% APR to stay short) = fuel for forced buying

So what is driving the bid? Nothing new, honestly. The last IOST pump ran on a real catalyst: the Foundation burned 70M IOST back on Sept 8 and price briefly doubled to ~$0.0024 (Bitrue). But run the math yourself: 70M out of 36B circulating is 0.19% of supply. The burn was a rounding error. The +100% was positioning, not scarcity math.

⚠ And here is the counterexample worth holding: that September rally fully faded, IOST drifted back toward $0.00079 within days, and the token still carries roughly 7% annual inflation that steadily dilutes holders. One day of extreme negative funding does not guarantee a squeeze, it only shows where the pain sits if one starts.

My take: this looks less like a repricing of IOST fundamentals and more like a positioning event, the same playbook as September, rerun. The tell is not the price, it is whether spot volume stays elevated and funding flips positive. If volume dies out while price holds, that is usually the squeeze exhausting itself.

Squeeze fuel loading, or just another burn-narrative rerun that fades by Friday? đŸ‚đŸ»
