🚹 UPDATE: The CFTC crypto story just became much more important.

CFTC Chair Michael Selig is now outlining how leveraged spot crypto trading could work on regulated U.S. exchanges under the proposed Reg CTX / Reg CAM framework.

One major detail: traders could potentially use assets such as ETH or SOL as collateral, while exchanges would set margin requirements with CFTC oversight. Reporting today also cited roughly 7x leverage as a reference point from comparable markets not a proposed fixed cap.

This matters because the discussion is moving beyond “Should crypto be regulated?” toward how regulated leveraged crypto trading could actually operate in the U.S. đŸ‡ș🇾

And remember:
these rules are not final. The CFTC is still collecting public comments, including on margin, collateral, liquidation and risk controls.

The big question now:

Does bringing leveraged crypto trading under a federal framework bring liquidity back onshore — or simply add another layer of restrictions?
