Hyperliquid (HYPE) — Weekend Trading Outlook | October 17–18, 2026

MARKET OUTLOOK: A REBOUND THAT STILL NEEDS PARTICIPATION

HYPE's bounce from circa 78 has not repaired its daily or 4H trend. Price is negotiating several close obstacles around 79.8–80.3, while participation is exceptionally weak as compared to this asset's usual weekend pattern.

The preferred watch is a failed rally into 80.50–80.79, but there is no verified eligible trade.

Waiting for better participation and sufficient room to the first target remains the stronger decision.

This post restates an October 17 assessment made circa 01:19–01:28 UTC, with price action standing near 79.83–79.96. Volume Outlook references are frozen at 01:00 UTC. Prices refer to MEXC:HYPEUSDT.P in USDT; subsequent triggers and fills are not certified here.

ACROSS THE TIMEFRAMES

Weekly: Price remains above Fast and Slow KAMAs near 72.976 and 52.788, respectively. But the unfinished week had corrected from 88.074 to 77.505.

Daily and 4H: Price stands below both daily and 4H KAMAs. Nearby repair must precede any return to the old 85–88 support region.

48m: RSI near 45.3 accompanies an elevated Stoch RSI near 81/90. This mismatch leaves momentum unstable and prone to false signals; an oscillator turn needs confirmation from price and participation.

24m and 6m: Price is testing the Fast KAMA near 79.963 and remains below the Slow near 80.170. Local CVD improved, but weak price acceptance and 6m ADX near 16.6 does not establish buying control.

WEEKEND VOLUME AND PRINCIPAL LEVELS

The completed six-hour volume ratio was only 0.18 times its seasonal reference. The last completed hour was 0.22 times normal. (These compare MEXC activity with matching weekday/hour history. HYPE showed a deficit even against that benchmark.) The forecast tempers that extreme reading rather than extrapolating it through the weekend. At the same time, it does not guarantee that activity will recover. ATR had cooled below its basis while bandwidth remained slightly elevated. A wide candle on sparse activity can travel through little opposing liquidity. Such does not establish durable demand. Nb: Volume is also distinct from order-book depth or executable size.

80.618–80.792: Upper AEE zone and daily Slow KAMA; failed-rally cluster.
80.50–80.516: Rebound gate and rolling-VWAP area.
79.963–80.280: KAMAs, engine midpoint and neutral ceiling; congested immediate repair.
79.643–79.826: Rolling lower band and neutral floor.
79.00–79.488: Local shelf and engine lower zone, including the 79.422 edge.
78.45–78.65: Lower support watch; 78.605 is a direction-cancellation reference.
77.855, then 77.505: First breakdown checkpoint, then developing weekly low.

CONDITIONAL PLANS

CONFIRMATION means: Two consecutive full, completed 24m closes beyond the relevant gate, followed by a separate completed 6m retest after the second qualifying close. Longs require a defended higher low; shorts require a failed recovery and lower high. Participation should support the direction.

1. Assess a failed rally into 80.50–80.79.

After the probe, require both closes below 80.50 and a later failed 6m reclaim. Stop beyond the actual rejection swing. First checkpoint: 80.280; 80.170, 80.053 and 79.826 follow only after reassessment. Require renewed selling participation and negative delta. Two completed closes above 80.792 cancel the pending fade. Current first-target room fails the baseline reward screen.

2. Assess a lower support response at 78.45–78.65.

After downside progress stalls, require both closes above 79.00 and a later held 6m higher-low retest. Stop below the actual sweep low. First checkpoint: 79.20; 79.357–79.488 and 79.643 are subsequent stages. Buying effort must produce retained progress. Two completed closes below 78.605 cancel the pending recovery.

3. Assess a fresh failure below 78.450.

Require both closes below that gate and a later failed 6m reclaim. Stop beyond the actual retest swing. First checkpoint: 77.855, before 77.505. Require renewed participation and negative delta; two completed closes above 78.605 cancel the pending short. Baseline risk room is narrow, and stress costs already defeat 2R.

For each scenario, require one decision bar above its 50-bar volume basis, a completed hourly seasonal ratio at least 1.0, and aligned delta. These are conservative screens, not a proven edge. Require at least 2R net to the nearest obstacle using the actual structural stop. Baseline/stress round-trip allowances are 0.20%/0.40% of entry, deducted from reward and added to risk; actual costs govern.

MACRO CONTEXT

Friday's nominal/real 10Y yields were 5.09%/2.74%; DXY's dated daily quote was 101.79. Modest relief leaves an elevated risk backdrop without suggesting a recovery for HYPE and crypto in general.

NOTATE BENE

MA's: Purple is Fast KAMA (10,2,30); pink is Slow KAMA (10,5,30).

PITCHFORK CHANNEL: The updated descending fork supplies trend context. Light-gray lines describe the fitted path, gray fill the core, and burgundy outer areas its extensions. Sloping boundaries change price with time; warning areas do not independently confirm reversal.

DRAWINGS: Yellow levels mark checkpoints/gates; red, green and gray zones mark rejection watches, support watches and reference areas. Red rejection zones differ from fork warning areas. All remain conditional.

AEE refers to Adaptive Edge Engine: its neutral range and upper/lower edges are dynamic decision references. Quoted VWAP values are rolling calculations; all indicator levels are dated snapshots.

Retire an unfilled sequence if its first checkpoint trades before entry, its defining swing fails, six full 24m bars pass after the second confirming close, a material event occurs, or the next refresh arrives. Stops act intrabar. Refresh by 04:00 UTC October 17 and 00:00 UTC October 18; update dynamic levels before entry. The outlook expires at 23:59 UTC October 18, with no automatic Monday carry.
