A lot of false information spreading about $XRP like:

1. Ripple has a banking license: Partly true. The OCC gave Ripple conditional approval for a national trust bank charter. A trust bank covers custody and fiduciary-type services, and it cannot take deposits or make loans like a commercial bank. The search results don't show whether the charter has since become final.

2. Ripple licenses the XRP blockchain to every bank: False. The XRP Ledger is public and open-source, so nobody needs a license from Ripple to use it. Ripple sells payment software, and many of its bank customers don't use XRP at all.

3. Ripple allocates XRP to banks by size and volume: I found no evidence of this. Banks that want XRP buy it on the market.

4. XRP must be fractionalised to pay "gas" fees: XRP is already divisible to six decimal places (1 XRP = 1,000,000 drops). Fees are about 0.00001 XRP per transaction, so no price rise is needed to make it divisible.

5. The more XRP is worth, the more transactions it can settle: This mixes up the fee with the payment value. The fee is tiny and is burned. Money moved through XRP as a bridge asset isn't consumed either. The same XRP can be reused again and again.

6. XRP must cost $10,000–$50,000 or banks will "run out": This doesn't follow. A higher price means less XRP is needed for the same payment volume. No source supports the $10,000–$50,000 figure, so it is simply an assumed price target.
