Market brief, 14 Oct 2026, 20:45 UTC
The driver: September US CPI came in hot. Headline inflation rose to 3.7% year on year from 3.4%, and core rose to 2.6%. The Fed already hiked in September, and the chance of another hike at the 27–28 Oct meeting jumped to about 42%. The US 10-year yield is around 5.21%. The dollar is stronger, and risk assets and gold are both selling off.

Levels
BTC: support is $81–82K, then $80.4K. Resistance is $83K, then $84K. A close back above $83K would be the first sign of recovery. Gold: it failed at $4,170 and made a five-day low. Support is $4,050, then $4,000, and resistance is $4,170–4,200. RSI is nearing oversold.
Watch next
FOMC on 27–28 Oct. Oil and Middle East tensions. An ARB token unlock on 16 Oct.
My read: Higher-for-longer rates are pressuring
both crypto and gold. Expect a range of $81–84K for BTC unless inflation or Fed expectations shift. The trade-off is that breaking $81K would open $80.4K.
