THE NEXT PHASE OF CRYPTO COULD BE ABOUT WHO CONTROLS THE WALLET

One of the biggest changes AI could bring to crypto is a shift from people carrying out every transaction themselves to AI agents making decisions and managing wallets on their behalf.

Speaking at Digital Asset Summit Asia in Singapore, TRON founder Justin Sun predicted that within five years, AI could handle most onchain decisions and move crypto assets, with humans retaining the final approval role. His comments point to a future where AI does more than provide information or answer questions. It could become an active participant in the digital economy.

The idea is straightforward. Instead of manually managing every transaction, a user could set objectives and allow an AI agent to handle routine financial tasks. The agent could assess available options, decide when an action is needed, and prepare a transaction for approval.

For blockchain networks, this introduces a different kind of demand. Infrastructure would need to support not only transactions initiated by people, but also activity generated by software operating continuously on their behalf. Payments between digital services and automated financial operations could become important use cases for onchain systems.

However, the five-year timeline is a prediction, not a confirmed outcome. There is a significant difference between an AI system recommending a transaction and one being trusted to control a wallet. Managing funds requires reliable decision-making, clear permission limits, protection against malicious instructions, and safeguards against costly errors.

Human approval is one possible layer of protection, but it does not remove every risk. People still need enough information to understand what they are approving, while wallet systems must limit what an agent can do if it makes a mistake or is compromised.
