🚀 Four years after the mainnet launch, Aptos has closed the book on its core contributor and investor token unlocks.

On October 12, 2026, the final tokens from the original vesting schedule for the team and early backers were released. That’s roughly 325 million $APT — about one-third of the original 1 billion supply — now fully unlocked.

Why this matters

Those two groups (core contributors ~190M + investors ~135M) were the biggest source of scheduled monthly sell pressure. Their unlocks are now 100% complete.

Going forward:

  • Monthly unlocks drop from 11.31 million APT to just 4.54 million APT

  • That’s a ~60% reduction in new tokens hitting the market every month

  • Only Community and Foundation tokens remain, releasing slowly at 1/120 of the remainder each month over the next ~10 years

The bottom line

This is a clear positive for $APT ’s supply dynamics. The heaviest insider unlock schedule is behind us. Future emissions are smaller, more gradual, and directed toward ecosystem growth rather than team/investor distributions.

Of course, some of the newly unlocked tokens may still be sold, so short-term volatility is always possible. But the structural overhang that hung over Aptos for four years is finally gone.

Supply pressure just got a lot lighter. Now the focus shifts even more to real adoption and network growth.
