Crypto security is having a horror-movie season.

A TOKEN2049 side event is facing allegations involving suspicious software. Ledger is investigating unauthorized hardware reportedly found in devices sold by a regional distributor. Meanwhile, reports say OpenAI is in talks to acquire cybersecurity firm Trail of Bits, and a Saudi employee was reportedly arrested over allegations of concealing a recording device in an OpenAI meeting room.

And that’s only part of today’s news.

🧵 8 stories worth watching:

My take 👀

This news cycle reinforces one point: security in crypto and AI is no longer just about smart contracts or private keys. It also involves physical devices, supply chains, software permissions, event organizers, and personal privacy.

Personally, I think CT should consider keeping a lower profile this season instead of attending every event and exposing their identities in public. Networking matters, but so does limiting how much strangers can learn about your life and assets.

I’d also like to see stronger verification of vendors selling devices used to secure digital assets. A hardware wallet is only as trustworthy as its source and the integrity of the device itself.

The question is: who benefits most when cold wallets, DAOs, and crypto infrastructure keep suffering security incidents — and what would it take to rebuild users’ trust? 👀
