What if US inflation comes in HOT, but Bitcoin still rallies? đ
The September CPI report arrives October 14 at 8:30 AM ET (6:00 PM IST).
Current forecasts:
âą Headline CPI: 3.6%â3.7%, up from 3.4% in August.
âą Core CPI: around 2.5%, versus 2.4% in August.
âą Monthly core CPI: expected around 0.2%.
These are forecasts, not actual results. ([Bureau of Labor Statistics][1])
Here's what many traders could overlook.
If rising energy prices push headline inflation higher while core inflation stays relatively contained, markets may interpret the report differently than a broad-based inflation surprise.
For Bitcoin, I'm watching three things:
1. The actual CPI numbers versus expectations.
2. The US dollar and Treasury yields after the release.
3. Whether BTC sustains its move after the initial volatility.
My takeaway: Bitcoin doesn't trade the inflation number alone. It trades what that number changes about interest-rate expectations and investor positioning.
A cooler reading doesn't guarantee a rally. A hotter headline doesn't guarantee a crash.
I'd rather watch the market confirm its direction than gamble on the first candle.
What's your view: will core inflation matter more than headline CPI for Bitcoin this time?
