đ”ïž A user in Thailand who bought a secondhand Ledger Nano X online noticed the battery was smaller than expected and found a small circuit board with wires and an antenna attached inside the device.
đĄ The implant was reportedly designed to fit inside the original casing, transmit data wirelessly and steal recovery seeds without the owner knowing.
đŹ Security researcher Joe Grand reverse engineered the implant, calling it a rare real-world example of hardware espionage, a threat usually discussed only in theory.
â ïž This is not the first tampering case. In 2020â2021, some Ledger customers received fake âreplacementâ devices by mail after a data breach, and Ledger confirmed those units contained a flash drive implant running a fake Ledger Live app.
