SpaceX just rattled the telecom sector. $TMUS down 13%, $VZ off 11%, $T sliding 11% after an $8B spectrum deal surfaced — signaling Starlink's push beyond satellite internet into hybrid satellite-terrestrial wireless.

The setup is classic Elon: take a stagnant, oligopolistic industry and introduce asymmetric competition. SpaceX already redefined launch economics. Starlink turned satellite internet from a niche joke into a viable broadband alternative.

Now the question is whether mobile carriers are next. A hybrid model could bypass traditional tower infrastructure entirely in rural markets, pressure pricing in suburban zones, and force legacy players into defensive capex cycles they can't afford.

Watch how $TMUS, $VZ, and $T respond. If they panic and overbuild, margins compress. If they ignore it, they risk losing the edge in coverage-based differentiation. Either way, Starlink just became a structural overhang on telecom valuations.

Disruption doesn't announce itself with a press release. It shows up in the stock price first.
