Did you know that every time you enter a trade, the market smiles at your decision?
Think about this for a second—when you look at a chart pattern and click 'BUY', someone else is looking at the exact same chart and clicking 'SELL' to you.
Here is the real question: If both of you are looking at the exact same chart, one of you MUST be wrong. Who is it? You, or them?
Most retail traders believe trading is a guessing game of predicting where the price will go next. They think if they can predict correctly 90% of the time, they win.
That is completely wrong.
Quant traders sitting on Wall Street desks cannot predict the future better than you. They don't know if the next candle will be green or red. Yet, they make millions while retail traders blow up their accounts.
What is their secret? They don't care about predictions. They care about Expected Value (E).
Let’s do a quick mental math exercise:
Imagine a coin flip game where you win 60% of the time and lose 40% of the time. But here are the rules:
* When you win, you get $1
* When you lose, you pay $3
Would you play this game?
Your brain might say, "I win 60% of the time, so I should play!" But let's check the math:
This means every time you flip the coin, you lose an average of 60 cents. Even with a 60% win rate, you go broke!
Now, let's flip the scenario.
You win only 30% of the time (Loss Rate = 70%). But when you win, you make $4 (RRR = 1:4), and when you lose, you lose only $1.
Now do the math:
You are wrong 70% of the time, yet you make 50 cents on every single trade!
How do you apply this to your actual trading?
Before drawing lines on a chart, run your trade setup through these 3 steps:
* Know your Win Rate (W): Check your last 20 trades. If 8 were wins and 12 were losses, your real W = 0.40 (40%) and L = 0.60 (60%).
* Set your Risk-Reward Ratio (R): If you enter BTC at $100 with a Stop-Loss at $95 (Risk = $5) and Take-Profit at $115 (Reward = $15), your R = 15/5 = 3 (1:3 RRR).
* Calculate your Expected Value (E):
If your E is not positive, executing that trade is financial suicide—no matter how beautiful the chart looks.
Be honest in the comments:
What was your average Risk-Reward Ratio across your last 10 trades? Or are you still chasing the dream of a 90% win rate?
