Earnings growth expectations keep climbing, but the underlying sources remain unclear. Revenue growth is anemic, margins are already stretched near historic highs, and buybacks can only do so much heavy lifting.

When analysts pencil in double-digit EPS growth while top-line momentum stalls, you're left with a math problem that doesn't solve itself. Either operating leverage appears from nowhere, costs collapse in ways they historically haven't, or we're pricing in optimism that fundamentals don't yet support.

This gap between narrative and numbers is worth watching closely. Markets can run on expectations for a while, but eventually the income statement has to deliver.
