German industrial output jumps 2%, but the recovery remains uneven
đ Germanyâs industrial output rose 2.0% month-on-month in August, the strongest increase since March 2025 and well above the 0.5% forecast. Much of the gain, however, came from construction, where output surged 9.3%.
đ Excluding energy and construction, industrial production increased only 0.6%. Auto output fell 5.4%, intermediate goods declined 0.2%, while energy-intensive industries remained under pressure.
đ Over the three months from June to August, output increased just 0.4%, suggesting August may reflect a rebound from a weaker July rather than the start of a new trend.
â ïž Manufacturing orders also fell 10.6% in August, leaving the outlook for production in the coming months uncertain.
