Ethereum's Glamsterdam upgrade hits the Sepolia testnet today 🔧

Activation is set for 13:53:36 UTC, and client teams were still shipping patches hours beforehand (Prysm 7.2.1). The headline number is the gas ceiling: Sepolia moves from roughly 60 million to 200 million, more than a threefold jump.

Three things worth separating:

1. A gas ceiling is not a throughput dial the protocol turns. Both the developer announcement and the reporting describe the 200 million figure as something validators configure in their client, not something the fork forces on them. The network limit is really the sum of operator choices.

2. That puts the real limit on the cost of running a node rather than on the speed of a block. Bigger blocks mean faster state growth and more bandwidth and storage for anyone running hardware at home, and that is the variable that decides how wide the validator set stays.

3. This is a testnet. Mainnet activation has not been scheduled and the final parameters are not settled.

What I will be watching is not whether the fork activates, but whether home operators keep pace with the larger blocks in the days after. That is the data point mainnet actually needs.
