#ethereumvalidatorexitqueuejumps392% but this may not be as bearish as it looks.
Ethereum’s validator exit queue jumped 392% since the start of October, reaching roughly 851,000 ETH at its peak.
That sounds like a huge warning sign.
But there’s an important detail most people are missing.
A large part of the spike came after MetaMask began proactively exiting affected validators following its September 30 security incident. MetaMask said there was no immediate threat to user wallets, and the exits were a precaution.
So I wouldn’t automatically interpret the exit queue as 851K ETH about to hit the market.
Ethereum limits how quickly validators can exit, meaning the ETH is released over time. As of October 5, around 786K ETH was still waiting, with an estimated wait of nearly 14 days. Lido has also indicated that much of the withdrawn ETH could eventually be restaked.
My read: the real signal isn't the exit queue itself.
I’m watching where that ETH goes after it leaves staking.
Back into staking = much less bearish.
To exchanges = a very different story.
Would you treat this as a bearish signal for $ETH, or just temporary staking rotation?
