₿ BITCOIN $BTC DOMINANCE IS NEAR 60%
Bitcoin is taking a larger share of the crypto market as traders shift toward the largest digital asset.
On October 2, 2026, Bitcoin climbed about 3.4% to above $86,000, while its market dominance moved close to 60%. At the same time, USDT dominance slipped to 6.3%, a combination CoinDesk interpreted as evidence of a more risk-on market environment.

Why does BTC dominance matter?
BTC dominance ≈ Bitcoin's share of total crypto market value.
When dominance rises, it means Bitcoin is gaining market share relative to the rest of the crypto market. That doesn't automatically mean altcoins are falling—Bitcoin can gain dominance simply by outperforming them.

The current picture is interesting:
🟠 BTC dominance: ~60%
🟢 USDT dominance: 6.3%
📈 BTC on Oct. 2: +3.4%, above $86K
What to watch next 👀
If Bitcoin continues leading while dominance stays elevated, capital may remain concentrated in BTC.
For a broader altcoin rotation, we'd generally want to see Bitcoin's market share start declining while major assets such as ETH gain share.
So rather than asking only:
“Is Bitcoin going up?”
A more useful market question is:
“Where is crypto market share moving?”
That shift in dominance can reveal changes in market leadership before price charts alone make the rotation obvious.
