$NIGHT (Midnight): why it's pumping
NIGHT is the token of Midnight, a privacy-focused network linked to Cardano. It has surged about 159% from a Sep 24 low of $0.022 to around $0.048, its highest in six months. It hit the peak after an 87% collapse from its $1.81 high, following a crash tied to a bridge exploit.
What's driving it:
Mainnet upgrade: Permissionless smart contract deployment went live on Oct 2, so developers can launch contracts directly without a security review first. Hoskinson hype: On Sep 28, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson said Midnight will be bigger than Zcash, a major talking point. He gave 2027 as the delivery target, not a price target. Private contracts coming: The planned v8 release is expected to bring private smart contracts to mainnet. Strong relative strength: NIGHT has run up while Cardano itself fell.
Why traders are bullish:
Real network progress, not just a rumor. Privacy is a hot sector right now. Market cap is about $809M, so it's not a micro-cap
Why to be careful:
Price is up about 159% in under two weeks, so it's extended. It's testing resistance near $0.0485, and the move up came with 18% lower volume. It's still far below its $1.81 peak, and the earlier crash shows how fast it can drop. Some of the pump is hype from one person's comments, and the sources say the upgrades haven't been proven to cause the price rise.
My take: The story is stronger than SAND's because it's backed by a real upgrade. But after a 159% run, buying at resistance is chasing. If you want in on Binance, watch for a pullback toward $0.044 and keep size small.
