Ethereum gained 70.9% in Q3, its strongest third quarter on record.
That sounds like a reason to celebrate, but the bigger picture is more complicated.
ETH started Q3 around $1,570 after two brutal quarters:
đ Q1: ~-29%
đ Q2: ~-25%
đ Q3: +70.9%
So while the quarterly gain was historic, a big part of the move was also a recovery from a much lower base.
ETF demand was strong too, with roughly $3.1B in Q3 spot ETF inflows. But the monthly pace slowed from $1.85B in August to $892M in September.
And thereâs another factor heading into Q4: the U.S. 10Y is around 5.3%, while ETH staking yields roughly 2.6%.
So the Q4 question isnât whether ETH can rally.
Itâs whether new demand can keep coming after the recovery trade.
