Tom Lee Asks: Do You Own Enough Crypto?

Fundstrat co-founder and BitMine chairman Tom Lee has sparked a discussion about crypto exposure after responding to a post from Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) with a simple question: “Do you own enough crypto?”

Lee’s comment comes as BitMine continues aggressively accumulating Ethereum. The company recently reported holdings of more than 6 million ETH, worth roughly $16 billion, giving it exposure equivalent to nearly 5% of Ethereum’s circulating supply.

BitMine has also staked the majority of its ETH holdings, with more than 5 million $ETH generating staking income. The company has described its strategy as targeting control of 5% of Ethereum’s total supply.

Lee has argued that the crypto market is entering a new bullish phase, citing growing institutional adoption, tokenization and potential demand from AI-related applications. He has also said institutions remain underweight crypto and could increase exposure as the asset class outperforms.

Meanwhile, CZ’s original post appeared to be a playful teaser rather than explicit investment advice. Lee’s response turned the exchange into a broader question about whether investors and institutions have sufficient exposure to crypto.

BitMine’s multibillion-dollar Ethereum position provides a notable example of how aggressively some institutional investors are positioning for the next phase of the crypto market.
