HSBC Names Its Hong Kong Stablecoin “HSBC RedCoin.”

HSBC has named its upcoming Hong Kong dollar stablecoin HSBC RedCoin, with the initial rollout focused on peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers and person-to-merchant (P2M) payments. The bank plans to expand its use cases over time, including corporate and business applications.

HSBC received a stablecoin issuer license from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in April and plans to launch the HKD-denominated token in the second half of 2026. The stablecoin is expected to be integrated into PayMe and the HSBC HK App, with HSBC stating that the tokens will be fully backed by high-quality liquid assets held in segregated accounts.
